Rebuilding and Revitalizing Communities Ravaged by Warfare

WBS is collaborating with PEACE AFRIQUE to host a soccer project that will grant scholarship opportunities to young men and women from conflict ravaged areas of Africa
We Play for Peace

The project will consist of a Mini North America 10 City tour in the spring  and Summer of 2010 Followed by the Scholarship Cup tournament in Monrovia, Liberia. The aim is to connect young men and women with educational opportunities based on merits. Scholarship receipiants will demonstrate not just athletic ability, but hard work and dedication off the field combined with discipline and a personal drive to succeed.  We see this as a viable alternative to children being used as instrument of warfare.  Competing for scholarship opportunities will bring out the best in them and will go a long way to shape their hopes, dreams and outlook on life .For more information on the tournament, visit www.peaceafrique.org

You can donate to the project or to any of our Women Beyond Survival Programs, including HIV/AIDS, Darfur in Rwanda, or Rape Victims by clicking here http://www.nycharities.org/donate/c_donate.asp?CharityCode=2779. Please specify what you prefer your donations to be used for.

The Peace Cup Scholarship Tournament sponsored by WBS and Peace Afrique will be held in Liberia on April 4th, 2011 at a stadium in Monrovia that will seat 12,000 people.  This is to help the underprivileged youth, whose parents were victims of war, to get an education through academia and sports/soccer.

The gifted students will be given an opportunity to study through a scholarship program in various colleges and universities in the United States.
